"New York" 3D DANCE VIDEO

FEATURING MILLIE FIELDING
CHOREOGRAPHY BY LAURA BAUGH

The world’s first dance video to utilise the ‘pulfrich effect’.

Hold up sunglasses (or anything tinted) to the LEFT EYE ONLY.

Watch at ‘ARMS LENGTH’ (The effect increases with distance).

Read below for the ‘science part’.

It works for around 90% of viewers, but may not work for those with underlying eye difficulties and astigmatisms etc.

This effect has the advantage over other types of 3D effects as it is the only current 3D technique where the video is viewable simultaneously in either 3D or 2D.

The ‘science part’:

Maintaining a continuous movement of the background, left to right, in relation to the subject, creates the 3D effect: The brain processes everything the right eye sees instantaneously. However, for the left eye (which is seeing less ‘light’) the brain processes the foreground element first, before processing the background. The difference in the processing time of the background through the left eye is what causes the brain to interpret the video as being 3-dimensional.

We filmed (according to covid secure guidelines) over the course of around 2 hours on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year!

Check out some behind the scenes footage.
